Family Reunion

This summer was Daryl's family reunion. I always look forward to seeing his family. He honestly comes from a great family. It was even more special this year because Daryl's mom was in charge of it this year and she planned an awesome reunion up at Estes Park at the YMCA. It was so much fun!!!

The first night there the whole group got together at a fire pit and we did the pinata that is done at each family reunion. They go from youngest to oldest and Emery got the privilege to go first. It was a lot of fun and we were able to just chat it up with family that we haven't seen for a while. Plus there are always some good laughs to have during the pinata. And I don't know why but I really get into cheering for the person hitting it.

Paiglee taking her turn to hit the pinata. She did a good job. But it was many, many turns later that the pinata broke open. Ryan was the one that got to go to town and shred the pinata.

Some of the little kids waiting patiently with their bags for the candy and their turn.

Paiglee with her loot from the pinata. I have to say George and Susan really went all out on the candy. There were some good pickin's. Except Kristine wanted to do some swapping and trading and Daryl swapped my sour patch kids, ugh so not cool. But it was fine I really didn't need them.

Paiglee had a very early first day and a very long one. We stayed at my parents house the night before we left to go up to Estes and we had told Paiglee we were going to a pool and a "hotel" (lodge). That was a mistake she was up at 2am saying it was time to get up and really didn't sleep that great the rest of the night because she was rearing to go. So she crashed hard at the end of Day one.

Saturday was full of activities and crafts that you could sign up for. It was fun, there was a a zip line and unfortunately the weight limit was a really low one for a zip line if you ask me so a lot of the grown men couldn't do it, it was sucked sense Daryl was looking forward to it. I was able to do it and it was scary. I am not a heights person, and sense there was a bit of a free fall from the platform until the harness caught you it scared me a bit, okay a lot. By the time I was at the top of the pole from climbing up I was usually shaking a little because the heights got to me.

Me freaked out cause well it was freakin' high.

Weeeee, Weeeeee, you can't really see me but I am in this picture, zipping a long.

I took this picture on the walk back from the zip to the lodge. I loved the mountains Our double stroller came in handy, I am glad we took it because for a minute we debated not to take it. Good thing we did because there was a ton of walking involved in this reunion.

This picture is the start of quite the story. The second evening a Hay Stack ride was reserved and it would take us to a location to roast marsh mellows. Well I took my allergy medicine so I was good. But Daryl was a whole different story. We knew that Daryl was allergic to horses/hay but we didn't know how allergic he is. Well shortly after the ride began D was coughing and sneezing and his eyes were watering and itching and his voice began to go hoarse. He wasn't doing good and I knew it. When we arrived to our destination Daryl was having problems breathing. He said his chest was really tight and you could tell he was struggling for breath. He of course in normal D fashion said "I will just walk it off". Oh okay Daryl right, is what I thought. I went to find his mom cause he will listen to her. Luckily D has two uncles that are doctors, and His Uncle John stepped in to help a bit. D was thinking of walking back to the lodge and his Uncle said that probably wasn't a good idea since it was all hills and he could barely breath standing. D didn't look good at all I was honestly scared. He was breaking out in hives, struggling to breath, his eye was swelling shut, he looked sick. It wasn't getting better so Curtis went with D back to the lodge. D was playing it down the whole time, and then said when he saw himself in the mirror back in the room he was like wow, it is bad. Yeah I am pretty sure we told him it was bad. Typical D! So we avoided the horses the remaining of our time. And we will for a while until D goes to the doctor to make sure he doesn't need an epi pen. I don't need my man dropping. Can you tell Paiglee looks so tired in the below picture.

Just a cute picture of Emery she was so tired

Paiglee was enjoying some marsh mellows at the roast, while dad was dealing with his condition. I love this picture of her, so silly.

Getting a closer look at the horses, they were so big, Paiglee really liked them. She was really tired before the ride and then was very chipper during and after. She was great during it, which was nice sense I was worried about Daryl.

The reunion was a huge hit, at least in my book and my family had fun. The food wasn't the best at the cafeteria, if anything it made for good table talk and laughs. We had fun doing crafts, playing games, swimming, put put golf and catching up with all the family. We had so much fun, too bad it wasn't maybe a little longer. Oh and Paiglee was bummed her cousins the twins couldn't make it.
