Illinios trip continued

Monday we all went to the Children's museum they have there, it was a lot of fun. I have only been to one other children's museum and this one was better than the Salt Lake one by far.

Quick story, so Kaden is 2 he in my book is a dare devil plus loves the water. Well Paiglee seemed to be fascinated with him from day one. When they went swimming together in Nauvoo Kaden was jumping off the side of the pool and then would swim to the top by his self. Paiglee saw this and began jumping off the sides of the pool, which is so funny because the night before at our hotel pool we couldn't get her to leave the pool steps, we even had her life jacket on. She doesn’t trust the life jacket. Then she sees him doing this and just goes for it and then is swimming around the pool while holding onto D's arm. Daryl started this saying of "the Kaden effect" if Kaden does it then Paiglee will do it. We joked about taking pictures of kaden doing things and showing it to Paiglee, and say look kaden eats his veggies.

Tuesday we went to the Niabi zoo it was half price Tuesday, I wasn't too excited just because I haven't been to but one other zoo and that is the Hoggle zoo, which I wasn't impressed with. The animals looked like they were dying and sick and didn't look right. Plus it was dirty at the Hoggle zoo. But Niabi was much different, the train ride was the first thing we did and it was much longer and I was able to see they had more animals and the grounds looked so much nicer. We then began the big loop around the zoo and although it was stinkin' hot and humid the zoo was good. They had fish, ducks, turtles, geese and swans to feed, Paiglee loved it. Then there was a place you could ride ponies, and then a small petting farm, where Paiglee fed goats and lambs and was able to pet them. Then they had a bird exhibit where you could feed the birds, not touch though, and just get up close, it was neat. They had a ton of Giraffes. All the animals except for the Elephants were out. We saw a male lion that was huge, some leopards, a tiger that freaked out because a lady in an electric wheel chair was nearby. I guess the tiger didn't like it, so it was charging the fence and hissing and growling pretty neat to see but it was so worked up after that. I didn't go in the enclosed bird thing or the reptile place because they stunk and the humidity was bad. It made you feel you were eating the smell. But Niabi didn't reek like Hoggle did. Hoggle smelt so bad it made the whole thing not so fun. And Niabi just had parts that stunk, the whole place didn't stink. The animals looked better and not so dead looking. It was a good zoo experience.

That evening we also went to see one of Daryl's buddies and hangout for a bit.

Wednesday was the hottest day while we were there it got over 100 degrees plus 100% humidity, can you say absolute misery. Just so you know I voiced my complaints a lot this day being hot is not a good thing for me. I am a baby, and well lets just say I couldn’t hack it. We went to a splash pad in Rock Island that was right along the Mississippi River, and I walked through the water to relieve some of my discomfort. The humidity like zaps the energy right out of you. I was miserable and grumpy, I don't know how people lived out there before air conditioning, they were better people than me.

While we were there each family took a day to cook dinner for the 20 people that were there. And the hottest day was our day to cook and Daryl wanted me to make my chicken pot pie. We had some setbacks and forgot some things so dinner was set back by due to all this. It was super hot in the house this day and with the oven on it added to the heat.

Thursday Lyle and his family left early in the morning. Daryl and I decided to go to the John Deere commons area. You can go and get on and play with these real tractors and learn about farming. They had a fake cow you could milk, Paiglee loved that. Then we took her to the shop to spend her money Grandma and Grandpa Michael gave her for her Birthday, she bought the same tractor Kaden bought. She had a lot of fun climbing around on the tractors. Then that evening we went to Brenda's house for dinner and to hangout. Paiglee loved playing with the twins who are her age. She just called them “the girls”, I think because she had a hard time telling them apart. But they really got along well, and she was sad to leave them. She asks to play with them.

Friday we just hung out, with Robert and his family before they headed home. I did some shopping since Daryl's parents gave me my Birthday card early. Also Daryl wanted me to find something for my birthday from him while I had so many stores at my disposal. We did laundry and packed to get ready to leave the next day. Then in the evening for dinner we went to a Mexican place with Brenda and her family and Wayne and Curtis. Then we watched Bounty Hunter, it is a really good movie.

Saturday we left and it was sad, Paiglee at one point said she didn't want to leave. She loved being at Grandma and Grandpa's house. She loved playing with all her cousins, and Indy (even if D and I didn't care for Indy). It was a great trip we had so much fun, lots of good memories from it. We really wish we could be closer to Daryl’s family. I am glad to be home the trip wore us out, Daryl ended up getting a head cold that was fighting. And I have been feeling the effects of dry weather on my sinus'. So humidity has a few good aspects to it I wasn't as congested as I am here, and my skin felt great there.

On our way home right as we were crossing the Mississippi River barely outside Daryl's home town.
