Garden

So forever I have wanted to have a garden.  I do not have a green thumb by any means, I have killed many of the plants we have had.  Daryl never wanted me to have a garden until I could keep my flowers I plant each spring alive.

Well my good friend Natalie and I decided to go into this adventure together.  Her parents are amazing gardeners and have a huge garden.  We have both sat around wishing to have one and how yummy the food would be.  Well we did it, and we did it all on our own with a little help from D on the grass removal, but that is it.  Natalie found a 4x4 garden box that we could build at Aces hardware.  Then we decided what we wanted to put into our garden.  And we have asked her parents a lot of questions on how to do things.  But we did it, we just finished planting our garden, I was so excited in fact I took pictures and came to blog about it.  We of course don't have all our plants because the remaining ones we want to plant, none of the stores currently have any, so we are waiting.

We decided to plant tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, crook neck squash, zucchini, cucumber then some herbs and green onions to put between the tomato plants.  That is what her mom told us to do to help keep bugs away from the tomatoes.  So in about fifty some odd days we will hopefully be able to reap the rewards of our hard work.  Of course most of my family won't eat the veggies, but I will eat it for them.  We planted mostly tomatoes since both of our family will eat those.

It is nice we split costs and who would have thought I actually had room in my little backyard for a garden.  I had a perfect spot for it all along I just didn't know it.  It has been a dream (can you call it a dream, when it is something that can be so easily attained?) of mine forever to have a garden.  I can now check that off my imaginary list of things I want to do/learn.  It feels good to feel self reliant and to hopefully be able to grow your own food.

Check our our little garden.  It looked pretty silly with all the walls of water around our tomato plants, but who knows it could snow any day.  So until we are sure the weather is going to stay nice and not take a drastic turn we will keep them up.  Plus they help as the plants get bigger to support them.  I am proud of us!  We just both hope it grows.  Keeping our fingers crossed.

It was fun and I can't wait to get the rest of our plants.  But I really can't wait until they get bigger and start producing.

Love it! I wish I had your green thumb...I am a horrible gardener. When do I get to see you, lady?

Way to go! I was wondering what those water wall things are. Never heard of them or seen them before.
