Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving here just with our little family. We were going to head to Laramie but some last minute changes, changed that for us. Our plans changed about five different times in the week leading up to Thanksgiving. We weren’t sure what we would be doing or who we would be spending it with. But we decided to stay home so I did all my Thanksgiving dinner shopping last minute. We wanted to cut down on the left overs that we would have so we cut most everything in half. We also invited our friends the Blake’s who were staying in town as well.
I had dinner planned and timed out perfectly, so things were done when I said they would be. Can’t everything in life turn out that way? And can I always be that organized with everything I do? We kept our daily snacks to the bare minimum. And This year Paiglee watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade with me. She loved it, finally I have someone on my side to put Mr. Scrooge a.k.a. Daryl in his place. We really had a great time.
I made three pies, don’t ask what I was thinking, I am not even sure. But I made D’s favorite Pecan pie, then my favorite turtle pumpkin pie, and then for the first time ever I made an apple pie from scratch. I was scared, but it turned out great. I love my mother’s apple pie but D won’t eat it cause it is too tart. But the Pie I made was from a recipe book a friend let me borrow. It was a good one. D enjoyed it so it is one I will keep around. But not to self next time, I need to use less top crust, I think it soaked up some of the moisture. But that is what you have ice cream for, right?

The week of Thanksgiving I was babysitting and I decided to make a craft with the kids. I saw this idea on Good Things Utah, and I thought it would be simple enough for them to do on their own. I invited over some friends and their kids as well. It was a big hit, I loved making it, and the other mommies did too. In fact when Paiglee got home and saw it she wanted to make one, so that is what we did for Family Night and then I had her write down eight things she was thankful for. She wrote down her friends, family, Jesus, our house, Turkey, and some other things that I have forgotten. I should have taken a picture of it. She does all the writing and just asks me how to spell words. That helped me to get in the Thanksgiving mood because I was not really feeling it for a while there.
The day before school was out for break all four Kindergarten classes had a Thanksgiving feast. I missed some of it because of a migraine, I have never had one before not cool. I was nauseated and all. I feel bad for people who get those on a regular basis. But thanks to a friend she shared some of her good meds and within thirty minutes I was able to show up for some of the party. They did crafts that day and Paiglee had a necklace she made that I loved.
So in all we had a good Thanksgiving break. We accomplished a lot around the house, and we put up our tree that Sunday after.
