A Goal is a Goal

Tonight was Paiglee's last soccer game for the season. We were all glad, the months have flown by for us, but soccer has dragged on. It was nice the whole family was there to watch Paiglee play her game. She is a jumpy little girl, it is hard to describe until you see it for yourself but she like hopes from spot to spot, side to side, it is funny to watch her. She has slowly become more comfortable with the game. Working her way to the ball, today she scored her first goal. But it was in the other teams goal. I was yelling "turn it around, turn it around", she threw her arms up and was jumping the minute she made the goal. I was laughing and felt proud but not as excited since it was for the other team. I had the urge to correct her. A goal is a goal in this little girls eyes. It didn't matter which net it went in. The point is it was her first goal of the season so it was an amazing goal. She didn't touch the ball a lot this season so it was really a big deal. Funny thing is she got the ball again later in the game and was once again dribbling the ball toward the other teams net to score. Luckily for her team mates the ball got away from her. She was so proud of herself for that. I of course was too but I still wished it would have been in the right direction, why? Only because I knew better, the excitement and joy was the same for her no matter what goal it went into. I love this girl to pieces.
There were a few times during her break from playing she would come sit on our blanket with Daryl, Emery and me. She would lay and put her head in my lap. I looked down and looked at the four of us sitting there, thinking, I love this. That is what life is about that moment in time. So simple but so big. I loved it! I have really loved having my kids at the ages they are. I get the best of both worlds. Paiglee is in school doing all the fun school and activity stuff. Emery is in the stage where she learns something new daily if not weekly, and is so interactive with all of us. I get to do all the great things with Paiglee then go back to Emery and do the whole baby stuff. I have been loving these two girlies a ton.

These pictures are from her very first game, she was dancing on the field in this picture.

She was just spinning around in this picture looking at everything not paying attention to what was going on around her.

She never tried to be the first to the ball always let others get the ball.

Before her first game

Funny/not so funny story. When we went to Sports Authority to buy Paiglee her soccer shoes and shin guards and socks we were so busy with getting Paiglee's stuff we kind of weren't paying a ton of attention to Emery. Daryl wanted to get a cart and I said no you can just carry her in her car seat. Well when we were looking at socks and shoes, D set Emery on a metal bench in the car seat. Then when none of us were paying attention a big thud caught our attention. Emery's car seat had slid off the bench and fell face down with her in it. Poor girl was scared to pieces. Luckily she wasn't hurt, and we just walked away feeling like horrible parents. The employee helping us was probably mortified. D said that wouldn't have happened if I had let him get a cart.

It was a good season, though watching her play. It got old after a while having a game every Saturday, but she enjoyed it. But we all were glad it was the last game even Paiglee said she was tired of playing. So good thing we are only doing Fall soccer and not Spring soccer as well. It was lonely sometimes to go to a majority of her games by myself since D had 8th grade football games and practice to coach. Did I mention I am glad it is over. Now on to swimming. I am not a person that likes to be running everywhere during the week and going to a ton of extra stuff, it isn't that fun running around. So I like the simpler things in life. I don't know how some people do it, with kids in multiple things at once or just more than one kid in something at once. Not my cup of tea. Makes me appreciate our simple weeks and weekends that much more.
