Easter

We went to my parents for Easter, seems like that is just what we do for Easter. I don't think there has been a year we haven't been at there house for Easter. I was really excited to get out of town and see my family. Some of my family still hadn't met Emery, so I was excited for that. Plus I knew my sister would just be dying to love on Emery. We were going to leave Thursday night but I just can't get myself together with two kids. So we left early Friday morning, since I had a hair appointment that morning. It was a good thing we waited though cause the weather around Elk mountain was not ideal Thursday night.

It was a good weekend I was actually really sad to leave the weekend didn't feel long enough. Plus I was sad at the thought that my family wouldn't see Emery until she was almost 6 months, and babies just change too much from month to month.

Friday when we got there we headed straight to my hair appointment. Then we went to lunch and then went to see my Dad and Grandma. Daryl met up with a friend for a bit and showed off Emery. While he was doing that I took the girls to my favorite store Sweet Pickles. They have some of the best stuff for kids, I usually spend a good hour in there looking when I go. And I can never leave without buying something for Paiglee. But they are pricey so she is turned down a lot on things until it is a decent price. She picked out a school bus, she loves it. We went back to the house for dinner. We just hung out for the rest of the night and made cookies.

I love this picture because Emery was just starign at my Grandma while she was talking to her

Saturday my sister and her family were finally free to hangout so they were over before I was up. The boys and Leonard finally met Emery and when I got upstairs the boys were already holding her. Sad part I don't think I got a picture of the boys holding her, but if an adult wasn't holding her then they were or they were asking to hold her. They were great with her, plus Paiglee loves playing with her cousins and couldn't wait to get there to play with them. We also wrestled the boys because well they were getting restless and needed to burn energy. It was fun for all those not on the bottom getting typed on. We just hung out for the day getting things ready for the Easter Bunny and to dye eggs and for the egg hunt. We colored eggs and I don't think I got a picture of this either, I know so sad. Then we decided to have our egg hunt that evening since Sunday was going to be busy with church and preparing dinner. So my sister and I filled 413 eggs with candy and after dinner we hid them all throughout the house for the kids, since the weather sucked the whole weekend. It took a while for them to find them. We had to count all the eggs the kids got because we weren't sure if they found them all. We let the kids have a free for all we didn't limit how many eggs they could have, except that Austin and Calvin couldn't get the easy eggs that were super visible they were for Duran and Paiglee. Allison and I had so much fun hiding them and we got really creative with it. Austin won with the most eggs he ended up with 150+ eggs. We spent our whole evening looking for the ones we couldn't remember where we had put them. Good thing too cause when we thought we had found them all we actually had 17 and a few more it turned out to find. I say a few more because when we thought we only had 17 to find we were finding more than that. I went to bed that night thinking about where and if there were any more eggs to find. I woke up looking in one last place but I think we got them all after I thought of that last place. We had apple pie and ice cream as well that night. It was a lot of fun.

Uncle Leonard giving Emery her bath, I didn't have to do anything except feed this girl and change her diaper sometimes

Emery found an egg with help from Unlce Leonard and aunt Allison

We put some of the eggs on each person we were running short on places to put them, Paiglee found Grandma Nickelson's with help from grandma

Paiglee was a good egg finder she loved it

We have some wires hanging out of the walls at my parents house where a suround system was suppose to go

Paiglee kept telling Grandma Koch she was the Easter bunny and asked when she was goign to put her bunny costume on. It was so funny, finally my mom went and got this costume from our halloween stuff to let her wear and she wore it the rest of the day until bedtime.

Sunday we all went to church with my sister since it was the earliest time and we just wanted to get church over with so we could hang out at home the rest of the day. I got the girls in their Easter dresses but I never got a picture of them both or before church or even Paiglee in her dress. Only Emery got her picture taken and it was after church right before I was going to get her changed. We did wake up early to see what the Easter Bunny had brought for the girls. They loved their baskets, and the good ol' Easter bunny kept it simple this year, so nice of him. We took naps and watched TV after church. We helped with dinner Allison and I did the deviled eggs. I was super picky about them, because Austin had cracked one of his eggs to eat and it was runny still. Plus they had sat out over night (which isn't a big deal if they are actually a hardboiled egg). This grossed me out and my mom said oh just put all the eggs back in the pot to boil them again. WHAT?!?!? can you say umm sick what are you thinking. I boiled fresh eggs I didn’t want to touch the eggs my parent boiled for the kids to dye since they all were not actually hard. BLECK! My mom thought I was being wasteful by not using those eggs but I just think I was watching out for everyone and the number of bathroom visits they would have. But for some reason we followed the recipe and they came out salty so we had to crack some of the eggs that were dyed to use them. My Dad said that the ones he boiled for Paiglee were good that he boiled them for 30 minutes. Umm well I cracked a good three eggs that were not hard all the way I was gagging. A few were actually cooked properly and we used them but man both Allison and I were freaked and kept giving each other the look of, you have got to be kidding me. Turns out Daryl said my Dad boiled the eggs for a long time but not a rumbling boil, it wasn't really a boil at all they just sat in hot water. So my Dad was the culprit of the bad eggs. It made for good times and some good rousing. As we finished dinner it was just a good time and lots of laughs. Daryl had gone to Hastings Saturday to get a movie and we watched that later Sunday night after dinner. Then my mom gave the families their baskets and we had Magnum bars for dessert. If you don't know what a magnum bar is they are European I had my first when I was in France (love!). They have just now made their way to the Wal-mart shelves and well they are heavenly. The movie we watched was great. We said our good-byes because in the morning we would be leaving. I really was sad, it wasn't long enough.

Easter morning

Emery checking out her toy from the Easter Bunny

Monday we helped clean my parents carpet in a bedroom downstairs with our carpet cleaner and then we packed up the car and headed out. We went to my mom's work so she could show off Emery to some of her co-workers. Then we went to lunch at Rapido, YUM! And we headed out. I was super tired because Emery didn't let me sleep nor did she sleep cause well I had too much Chocolate. I paid for that for three nights in a row.

It was such a great weekend, I kept saying I was sad to leave all the way home. Plus being around so much family my kids have endless entertainment and that is always nice.
