I have been super busy these last few months getting my sew on, and teaching myself some new things. I have made a nursing cover, a blanket for Paiglee, a blanket for the baby, and some blankets for Daryl's sibling that we have for Christmas. I have in the works a car seat cover that is almost done, I just need to put the handle straps on. I am making another two more baby blankets and some burp rags, but I have yet to get to them. I have taught myself a ton of new things, I can now do binding with mitered corners (the only way to bind, it looks much nicer). I have learned how to put on a mitered border to a blanket which is different from the before statement. Plus the experience that I have gained of working with different materials is very valuable in my opinion. But I must say the small blanket that I just finished for D's sibling's kid was by far the biggest freakin' headache. Minky is horrible to work with, when you are doing fancy things with it, I wouldn't recommend it. But the finished product turned out great. I can actually bust out a simple blanket in a little over an hour now. I kind of feel like I know what I am doing, now when I sew. I have used some of my decorative stitches on my machine. I also now have a more comfortable relationship with my sewing machine, it use to kind of intimidate me. But I think we have worked out the kinks as to who is now boss. I have always liked to sew but I would say now it is a love of mine. I will be sad when I have nothing more to sew after my projects because well if I could I would add more projects to the list but, there is a budget to keep in mind. Plus to sew anything that is cheaper than what you can buy it in the store you have to have a JoAnn's fabric store or some big place like that around to where sales or even some normal prices make it worth it.
The nursing cover, it is nice and big Ihaven't washed it yet
Some decorative stitching
The neck tie part
This is a mitered corner on a hem I think it looks nicer and more finished. It was pretty simple to do
But in all I have had a great time with my sewing machine and have really gained some valuable experience sewing. Oh I must add I am still not that great and my work still kind of shows it. Here are some pictures of what I have done of course the gift stuff is not shown but I will post it after Christmas time, when I hope to have all my projects done if not close to.
This is the back of Paiglee's blanket
She picked out the fabric of course Sponge Bob, and I let her choose between colors for the back. She pretty much picked it all out, she loves it.
I made sure I finished her blankey first so she didn't feel left out that I was making things for the baby.
Along with her waffle blanket this is her favorite
This is a simple flannel blanket I made for the baby
The front with the back
And the decorative stitching
