Christmas 2010

With the hustle and bustle over, I better take a minute to document our Christmas, before new things arise. It was a great Christmas, it was busy but laid back which is our kind of Christmas. On the twenty-third Daryl's brother Curtis came for the night on his way to see Daryl's older brother in Utah. It was great to see him and play the Wii with him. Paiglee had fun beating both her Dad and Uncle Curt in Wii bowling. She had a sleep over as well on the twenty third with one of her little friends, which was beyond fun for her. They stayed up late, giggling. Christmas Eve we just cleaned the house and got ready for our evening as a family. We made nachos, tacos and burritos. There really was a ton a food for only the three of us.

I began to make Daryl's mom's family recipe for cinnamon rolls from scratch. Yeah I was stressing about it, I had to call Daryl's mom in the midst of it because I was kind of freaking out as to whether I was doing it right and whether I was going to mess this up. I want it to be a tradition for us to have these cinnamon rolls in the morning, they are really yummy the best home made one I have had. The whole time I was stressed out over it. While the dough was rising as a family we read Luke chapter 2 and then watched the five minute clip of the Nativity. We talked about that with Paiglee, come to find out she is very intrigued by the scriptures or the "Bible" as she calls mine and Daryl's quads. Then we just hung out watched some Christmas movie and Paiglee went to bed. Daryl and I stayed up late I had to finish my cinnamon rolls ( I will be doing these much earlier in the day next Christmas). To say the least the rolls were baked before bed and they looked yummy! They smelt great as well so I went to bed feeling better about them being eatable.

Right out of the oven, they look perfect, to me anyways

After we had eaten and shared some with our neighbors

I was up before Paiglee and when I heard her come out of her room to use the bathroom then go back in I went in to get her and wake the house up. I was tired of being in bed not able to sleep. I videotaped the whole morning pretty much. Santa did come to our house, even though Daryl and I stayed up late. We asked Santa to keep it small this year, as to not make Daryl and me look like stingy parents. She was thrilled, she received what she asked for from Santa. After looking and going through what Santa brought, I made the frosting for our cinnamon rolls, then we dug in and ate. UMMM to say the least I stressed over nothing, the rolls were super yummy and tasted just as I remembered them at Daryl’s mom’s house. So I did a great job for my first time at making from scratch cinnamon rolls. Then Paiglee could barely handle it and couldn’t eat her breakfast, because she couldn’t wait to open her gifts. We hurried and cleaned up and all sat down to watch her open her gifts. She loved it all and received some very nice gifts from family. My parents were coming Christmas morning so we saved their gift for her to open when they arrived and the ones that went with it. It was a Christmas full of Buzz and Woody this year. She really was in love with all her gifts which I was so happy for. She ended up getting her most prized gift, the Leapster Explorer, and she used some of her Christmas money to get some extra things for it.

With almost all her loot

We spent the rest of Christmas day playing with Paiglee’s goodies and my mom helped me make a Christmas dinner. I really enjoyed this year it was so simple and laid back. Christmas night Paiglee also had her friend stay the night again, since her mommy and daddy needed to be with their new baby. Paiglee really thought this Christmas weekend was a huge treat. All the gifts and sleepovers and movie watching and goodie eating.

Paiglee palying with her Leapster, she laid there forever just playing, she loved it

Sunday we headed to Laramie to get my hair done and see family, we had a super yummy dinner at my sister Allison’s house and all the boys played their new game that Daryl and I gave them, together on the Wii. We had a short but really good trip to Laramie, and want to be fed by Allison more often.

But here we are back at home and tomorrow the tree comes down and life goes on. There is much to be done before this New Year arrives and we have to get on it. For heaven’s sake there is a baby to be prepared for, and no preparing has been done. Things are still packed away or just sitting in a closet waiting to be put in its final place. So I hope for a good night’s rest and the energy to get all this done.
