Labor day weekend fun

Saturday we headed to Laramie to attend the Buddy Walk. For those who don't know it is for Down Syndrome awareness and to raise money for those who have it and their families in the state of Wyoming. They do these all over the country, it is pretty neat. It was my second time attending and Daryl's seventh or something. But we do it when we can or remember because my nephew Duran is down syndrome and my sister and her family pretty much do it every year. The Buddy Walk in Wyoming goes to the first Cowboys football game and it has festivities and a meal at the tailgate party provided for you. Plus this year after the night game there was fireworks for the re-opening of War Memorial Stadium. We had a lot of fun Paiglee had a little rough start before the walk because other than the games there was only music and she couldn't sit for it. But once we had our meal and she realized we were going to a football game she began to have more fun, and was pretty excited for it. She likes to play football with friends and Daryl and me. She almost made it till the end of the game too, but we had to leave before the fireworks. I also didn't take my camera out of the car so I didn't get pictures. But Paiglee had fun at her first football game and we enjoyed going with my sister and her family.

Sunday we headed up to the Snowies to spend the day with my parents and my sister and her family. We took our time getting up there and stopped at Lake Marie to let Paiglee throw in rocks. This is the only point in our weekend where I actually took pictures. I am a slacker! We spent the day riding the four-wheeler and my nephew’s dirt bike. We sat around the camp fire and chatted. Then there was a big meal that my mom made for dinner. It was a really enjoyable day and we all had a lot of fun. We all came home in the evening. Then we headed home Monday afternoon. We loved spending the weekend with my family.

Daryl fell down this mountain while in college

One stupid thing that I did while in the Mountains was that I told my nephew to drink the creek water. YEAH! Okay I know, chalk it up to pregnancy or whatever, but I wanted to try it myself. Plus I thought well it is rushing and being filtered by all the rocks. Right? For some reason the water looked so good to me and I told Austin to try it and at first he said no then I said it is clean. I KNOW once again retarded. But both of my nephews took a drink I told them to do it in the part where it was rushing though. I asked them what it tasted like and they both said really cold water. Then Paiglee did it, so it is not like I wouldn't let my own child do it, if that makes it any less stupid (which it doesn't). I really wanted to drink it and I couldn't decide since I am pregnant. So I thought I would go ask Daryl and my sister if they thought a Pregnant lady should drink the creek water. Daryl without hesitation looked at me like I had two heads and said no, unless you want Giardia (really bad diarrhea). I said really you think, I told him my explanation, he said on all the survivor shows we watch it says not to unless absolutely necessary, then he follows with are you paying attention. Then I told them I told the boys to and they did it and they couldn't believe it their mouths dropped. Then I told them I let Paiglee do it and Daryl said that is the last time I take our child alone to the creek (joking of course, or maybe he wasn't). Then my sister kind of gave the boys a stern talking to about not listening to what their aunt Emily tells them to do. I said really could you blame them for listening, I am suppose to be a competent adult, who wouldn't tell them to ever do something not good for them. Okay really I know better but my desire to want to try the fresh looking cold mountain water was clouding my logical thinking. The only reason I didn't was because I kept thinking should a pregnant lady really drink this water? I know it doesn't make sense but for some reason the brain wasn't working like it should. But in my defense none of the kids ended up having diarrhea or sick for that matter. So it wasn't that bad, right? But the family did lose faith in my competence, and probably watching their kids for that matter. But you know what is funny even with all that said I still want to try the water, thinking about it makes my mouth water.

Also Paiglee had her first day of pre-school on Wednesday and she was excited to go back to school. I asked her how it was when I picked her up and she said "good" more than I ever got last year. We haven't gone fall clothes shopping yet so she is still dressing for summer. Also she is going at a different time this year from 1:30-3:30 and I think I like the morning one better just because then I don't feel I am waiting for something all day. But the 8:30am class was too early and the 1:30 was the only one that had enough room for Paiglee and the little boy I watch 2 days a week. But I do think it will help her get use to having to pay attention and follow directions during a time of day where she normally slows down and tends to get more tired. All in preparation for Kindergarten.

Thanks for the pictures - these past 9 months whenever I see people post pictures on FB of the Snowies (or anywhere else in the west) I get homesick, but I love seeing them. Paiglee's shoes rock!

And if it makes you feel any better, I would drink the creek water with you if we weren't growing babies.

Also, I've been meaning to tell you that your new vehicle is sweet! We thought our Subaru would be good for when we had kids..turns out it doesn't have much space in the back. We'll see when we replace it but I think it'll be a few years. But congrats on your replacement and the great deal you got on it!
