Sunday: We finished packing and left town this trip worked out perfectly because our stake canceled church for a temple dedication that was being broadcasted to us so all wards did not attend church. So we didn't feel bad for missing. But the car trip to Bear Lake was a great one Paiglee was good in the car and although cloudy it was a gorgeous drive. We get there and settle in (the cabin had a gorgeous view of the lake) and Eric makes us pouched eggs (he works are Shari’s as a cook currently until his real job kicks in) it was so good. The boys decided to go Kayaking and after the kids woke up from naps Genae and I took the kids to the pool for a swim. And I took all of Paiglee’s inner tubes for the pool and pool toys and we borrowed a Childs life vest from some friends. So I was really hoping that Paiglee would want to try out the deep water. We got in the kiddies pool and that was okay but then we got into the big pool and Paiglee refused to leave the stairs even when I held her she was not okay with it. So I left her there with her wings on. Then the boys showed up from kayaking and helped out with the kids while Genae and I went to the hot tub. We decided to come back to the pool and while we went to the big pool the others were in the kiddie pool and Genae's little boy Conner saw us and came in. I was in the pool and Genae was outside getting ready to come in when her son got in the pool without his life vest and decided to leave the stairs. Genae warned him numerous times to not get in or leave the stairs but he didn't listen. So he is trying to swim and is sinking I was on the other side of the pool and was not close and I began to try to run to him but the swimsuit I was wearing was like a parachute in the water. Genae runs (who is a swimmer and use to lifeguard) and jumps in to get him because at this point he is under pretty sure touching the bottom with eyes open still trying to swim. Genae pulls him up and he was scared but he held his breath the whole time. Amazing for a three year old, but he was fine and not harm was done. Then the boys decide to come to the big pool with Giana and Paiglee and before they were allowed to get in they had to put on life jackets and floatie stuff. So I was standing helping Giana put on the water wings and Paiglee was sitting on the stairs by her and Daryl says Emily watch Paiglee and I turn and say "she is fine" (I only said this because well last time I knew she was not even going to attempt to leave the stairs by herself let alone with an adult, so in my mind she was fine, I didn’t realize that during the time I was in the hot tub Paiglee had decided to get brave) well I was busy trying to get Giana's wings on and next thing I know Genae is gasping and saying oh my gosh and I turn around and Paiglee was under water, I begin to freak and pull her up and she took in water and is choking and gasping and complete terror is across her face. So that ended the swimming for the Michael family for the day. As we are walking back to the cabin I heard another cry from one of the kids. Turns out Giana tried to swim without her life vest and went under as well. So at the end of the day all three children about drown and are pooped along with the adults. You would think that four adults could manage to watch and attend to three young children in a pool, right? It was scary at the moment but after the fact we all got a little laugh from it because really all our kids go under in the same day, what kind of parents are we? It was time for dinner and then time for bed when all was said and done, we had the best dinner. After the kids went to bed we stayed up to play games and eat junk. It was a fun first day even considering all three kids about drown.
Monday: The boys went golfing in the morning and we just hung out and went for a walk. When they got back we went down to the Bear lake beach and spent the whole afternoon there. The water seriously is so shallow and considering the clouds pretty warm. I swear you can go out 200 yards or more and still touch it is crazy. The kids had a ton of fun playing in the sand and swimming. Genae and I took our turn’s kayaking and it is so much harder than I would imagine. But I got the hang after a while. I tried to get Paiglee to come out with me not very far but just for a little ride she wanted nothing to do with it. But towards the end Daryl ended up taking her out with Eric and Giana. No one except Paiglee was wearing a life vest so I kept watching them while I was sitting on the lounge chair in the water. The boys didn't take them very far out so if anything were to happen. The next thing I knew I see Daryl beginning to tip and that he wasn't going to recover I began to run I think the fastest I have run in a while towards them (while wearing the parachute swimsuit) as I am running Daryl has one arm touching the bottoms of the lake then Paiglee begins to panic and her face touched the water and then she really freaked then Daryl is under the water with one arm up in the air trying to hold Paiglee out of the water. As I am getting there Daryl slips out of the Kayak and I grab Paiglee and walk back to the shore. Although we were there forever this made it time to leave. Paiglee did calm down but she didn't want to get in the water anymore. So it was a freaky moment but everyone is fine Paiglee is not too traumatized and I had the biggest adrenaline rush in my life. But we were all tired after that long day and we cleaned up had some yummy crepes (that gave me the worst stomach ache) then we headed to the park and then had pizza for dinner. It was a really fun day and ended it with a movie.
Tuesday: The boys went to play tennis in the morning and we hung out and then we went on a hike to Bloomington Lake it was really pretty but stressful just because it was not kid friendly. So after that we headed back and in the afternoon I took a nap while everyone else went miniature golfing and then we all went to the pool again, it was a better experience and no one went under this time. We had a yummy dinner foil dinners and then the adult’s played games.
Wednesday: We had to clean up the whole cabin and we packed to leave. We were pn the road by 10am and I was sad to leave it was a great time and i hoe to do it again with the Mays.
We really had a ton of fun, Paiglee had a blast I asked her throughout the trip are you having fun and she would just put on a big grin and say yes. I really didn't want to leave it was gorgeous up there and too much fun. Paiglee has always played great with Conner and Giana so it made the trip really fun for her. It was a relaxing trip and really the perfect way to end our summer. We had so much fun hanging out with the May Family and being able to catch up with them, they are one of our favorite families to hang out with and it is always fun. We hope to do more with them since we have so many fun things in-between our towns that are about halfway for the both of us. Thank you May family for inviting us it was for sure one of our families highlights this summer.
