Ear Candles

Okay so last night our friends Beth and Gary came over, because for some time Beth has been telling us about this ear candling thing. She told us it cleans out your ears and gets the wax and what not out. I was a little skeptical and really confused on how it worked. So over the weekend while they were out of town she picked some up because she has been dying to ear candle Daryl since his ears are usually waxy. So I guess you can say for our family home evening we cleaned our ears. But any who,
Daryl was the first one to do it and it was very interesting and nothing like I thought it was going to be. After Daryl's candle was done we cut it open to see what came out of his ear, yes it was very nasty.

Daryl's ear candle result, the dark stuff are clumps of wax

Daryl's same ear candle

So I know the pictures are way gross and you are wondering how that came out and how does it work, or maybe why I even took a picture. But from what I understand, you stick the small end in your ear then have someone light the top and let it burn a ways down. Well I guess it warms the wax in your ear and then the vacuum that is created sucks it out of your ear. It doesn't hurt at all and you can't even feel the stuff coming out of your ear but unless you are me you feel it coming out or I guess you feel your hearing coming back. I did it and well you think Daryl's was nasty mine was much worse.

Same ear candle from a very zoomed in view, mine had more clumps of dark wax instead of the powder wax stuff

My right ear candle

Daryl, Jason (one of our friends), and myself all did it to each ear. I was by far the worst then Daryl and then Jason. Jason said Becky his wife cleans his ears and she does a good job because he had the least amount.
Jason ear candling, this is how it is done

My ears felt so airy and not so waxy afterwards. I want to do it again to get more out. I think it is so cool. I am hooked, it is all I could think about last night while in bed. I must buy some, now if only I could do it to Paiglee that would be fun (never going to happen). Just to let you know i even poked at it with a Q-tip and it is wax if it cools it hardens but while warm it is just like the stuff if you were to clean your ears with a Q-tip.
Sorry if I have totally grossed you out, but hopefully you all will still be my friend and know I have really clean ears.

Well you are just an angel. I really appreciate that. It seems to be more common than I thought. We're feeling better since the blood test came back normal, but we know we're not out of the woods 'til the ultra sound and we can see if the cyst is gone. did u have a quad screening after they found the cyst? waht did your blood test say? they told us that even if you blood test comes back normal, its not a guarantee of anything.

I am disgusted and very proud of you for posting those pictures. That took guts - I am surprised I'm still talking to you. Sicko! But yeah, I want to do it too...I bet we could get them at that hippy store here in Laramie, Terrapin.

Best FHE ever! I love that you loved it. I'm telling you when I do it I can feel it too and Gary will ask to have it done from time to time.

I love that you took pictures of it. :) ha ha. Jeff's sister's loves to wax her ears and she swears by it. I've never done it though.
