June 2013 Pergola

In Rock Springs there are not a lot of trees.  The shade is hard to come by.  Our back yard gets so hot and the girls weren't spending time back there because they essentially were getting baked.  So I asked my Dad to help us build a pergola.  I looked for a lot of ideas and found some and eventually we mixed a few ideas together to get this.  I seriously love it.  We have also had people who have seen it and are taking the idea to use for themselves.   I also made the fabric part that makes the shade, I don't know what you would call them.  It was more expensive then the wood though.  But all together cheaper than buying a pre made one.  I am so thankful we have  Jo Anns in town for all my sewing needs.  I picked out some outdoor fabric measured and sewed them.  We also have them attached at the ends with hooks and rings.  I love it, it has held up through the strong winds, we are able to bring the fabric down and up whenever.  I was so thankful that my dad was so kind to come help us with this.  We have sense stained it and have had a lot of enjoyment from it.
