Stay off the sidewalks

Sometime in March Paiglee's friend Abbi learned how to ride her bike without training wheels in one day.  She was showing off to Paiglee and it sparked a little fire for Paiglee to want to try and learn.  So on a weekend a while back we took her to her school to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels.  D did most of the work while I kept Emery out of trouble.  She learned pretty quick and while she wasn't near ready to ride on our street yet she had the balance down and was getting better at starting herself.  I was pretty proud when she got it and was actually pedaling and balancing all on her own.  The day we went her friend from school was also there riding her bike.

Showing off for the camera. This wasn't taken the day she learned.  We take her to practice at the school a lot.

She has had a few accidents, but gets right back on it.  She still gets scared sometimes and needs to work on control and using her brakes, but every time she rides she improves.  We now take walks and she rides her bike to get her more comfortable with her "new" bike.  We have also kept the seat really low so that she can put her feet down quickly if she needs to.  And even though we didn't want her to ride her bike on our street until she became much better, she came home that same day and was riding her bike with Abbi.

I was just planning to try and get her to ride her bike without training wheels by the end of the summer.  But with some peer pressure she is now doing it before summer  has begun.  I don't know if we should be worried though, since it only took a little peer pressure.  I hope this isn't a sign of what is to come as she gets older.

But to say the least we are pretty proud of her.  I can't wait until she gets more leg strength to go on bike rides on the green belt as a whole family.  Really her riding her bike was one of those proud parent moments.  Nothing like seeing your child succeed at something so quickly.  Now if only peer pressure worked to make her try new foods.

What a big girl! Landon begs me to go help him ride and he does really good until he realizes I let go and he actually is riding on his own, then he falls over. Lol
