How to kill Bamboo

So I love to have green fresh stuff in my house it just adds life to a space. But I am not a big fan of plants in the house because they make things messy. You can get these little bugs that live on the plant and fly around if you don't water it enough the leaves fall off and make a mess. So I am picky about what plants or living things I allow in my home. I have always been a big fan of Bamboo and I have always wanted some because they look nice and they are very low maintenance, and they don't die they are resilient plants. So a while ago when I went with some of my girlfriends to IKEA (best store ever) it was a good price (because sometimes places charge too much for it). I loved it I thought it looked nice. I must add I am very forgetful, to the point it annoys me, so I was afraid I would somehow kill it by not watering it so I always made sure it had water and fresh water. Then one day I thought man it is so nice outside maybe the bamboo would like a little sunlight. I know bamboo doesn't need sunlight, but I thought well I am sure it is sunny in Japan or where ever the stuff grows naturally, so it can't hurt right? Guess again... being the forgetful person I am I left it outside the rest of the day through the night and didn't realize it was outside until almost noon the next day. It didn't look so pretty. It was yellow and not looking so healthy. So I quickly changed the water and tried to nurse it back to health. Well one started to turn its bright greenness again while the other was not making a recovery. It was soft and yellow so I parted ways with it. The other was doing fine until a few days later I noticed it beginning to turn yellow. And I have watched it every day since slowly turn more and more yellow. And where it is yellow it is soft. So I am holding on to hope that it will turn around, but I am thinking not. So soon I will be bambooless and quit sad because I really liked them, then I killed them. So if you want to know how to kill bamboo, just leave them outside in the Wyoming climate over night for a day and I am sure that will do the trick.

The day I got rid of the yellow one

The one still sitting on my counter, I don't know why it is dying, maybe cause the other one touched it I don't know. I don't think there is much I can do.

You just affirmed that the little bugs flying around our house are from our plant - our bonzai(sp?) tree. I hate them...we're going to try some plant-safe bug killer, but I'm pretty sure the tree is going in the garbage.
